Weekend Warriors
Obviously, with 14 hour days during the week, I don't have any time or energy to write. But I make up for that, somewhat, by upping my daily goal for the weekends.
This past weekend is a case in point. I managed between 4-5 thousand words. I don't have an exact count since my laptop is at home and I'm writing this blog during my lunch break at work. Overall, I'm happy with the words I got. It does take a little bit of time to get back in the groove after a whole week of no writing, but if I force myself, I can do it. Being mean to myself is necessary sometimes. I tell myself I can't play solitaire, go get a snack, or anything else (except bathroom, naturally, then it's back to the chair) until I have at least 1k. If I stare at the screen, I stare at the screen.
And staring at the screen is boring. Nay, it's deathly dull. I'd rather write something, anything, instead of sit and stare at the screen. Some days this produces garbage. But other days I manage to turn out something decent.
This past weekend was more of the latter than the former. I only "suffered" through 15 minutes of screen-staring and 150 garbage words before I got going good.
